| December 13, 2022 | Product Updates | , ,

We’re glad to announce the new version of Virtuozzo Hybrid Server, a bare-metal virtualization solution with system containers, KVM-based virtual machines, and software-defined storage meticulously combined in an efficient hosting platform for service providers.

Virtuozzo Hybrid Server 7.5 Update 4 adds support for FreeBSD as a guest operating system, as well as new versions of CloudLinux and AlmaLinux.

It also includes a set of stability, performance and network improvements. Check out the highlights below, along with links to the full release notes, how to upgrade, or how to get started if you’re new to Virtuozzo Hybrid Server.

FreeBSD Guest OS Support

Virtuozzo Hybrid Server provides different operating systems (OS) as templates, including our own VzLinux distribution. The new release adds support for FreeBSD (versions 9 to 13) in virtual machines.

FreeBSD is a free, open-source Unix-like monolithic OS for servers. The kernel, device drivers, and system software are all delivered by the same project. It forms the basis of much of the codebase of Darwin, and hence the Apple family of operating systems (macOS, iOS, etc.). The first version of FreeBSD was released in 1993.

Updated CloudLinux and AlmaLinux Guest OS

Virtuozzo Hybrid Server 7.5 Update 4 supports new versions of the following operating systems:

  • CloudLinux 8 in virtual machines
  • AlmaLinux 9 in containers

At the same time, AlmaLinux 8 has been assigned as a default guest OS container template within the hosting platform.

Full release notes

In addition to newly added and updated guest OS, Virtuozzo Hybrid Server 7.5 Update 4 includes:
