Pay-per-Actual-Use

New generation public cloud pricing model based on real consumption, not on server size

Pay Per Use illustration

Usage-based resource allocation and pricing

Every container hosted with Virtuozzo Application Platform is divided into granular units – cloudlets (128MiB of RAM and 400MHz of CPU). The system makes hourly measures of how many cloudlets inside each container are consumed and requests the payment only for these used resources.

You can set up a maximum Scaling Limit for each container, so the resources will always be available in case of load spikes or other consumption changes.

No matter how high the Scaling Limit – the payment will be only based on real usage.  Additional resources will be waiting in the pool for the application to request them, and it is totally free of charge.

This solves the right-sizing problem available with VM-based cloud installations, as with Jelastic container-based infrastructure, you don’t need to guess how much resource to allocate for a high performance during an average load or in case of load spikes.

Additional resources and services

In addition to RAM and CPU, the application can consume the following paid resources

PUBLIC IP

External IP address for direct connections between Internet and specific servers within environment

COMMERCIAL ADD-ONS

Paid licences for commercial software stacks as LiteSpeed and additional services, for example, for built-in CDN

EXTERNAL TRAFFIC

Traffic between your environment and the Internet. Internal traffic between environments is free

DISK SPACE

Disk space is charged hourly per GB of disk space used in your environment

Tracking cloud hosting expenses

After registration, you’ll get a free trial and during this period you can track the actual consumption of the application and the total cost.

Within the Virtuozzo Application Platform dashboard you can estimate the price while creating an environment, check statistics for Disk, RAM, CPU and Network Bandwidth, as well as review the charges applied for consumed resources.

Keeping an eye on the amount of resources your application consumes allows you to plan and control your budget.

“In the previous solution, we always had to choose the exact size of the environment when setting it up, and we were charged based on the fixed size. Nowadays we just need to choose the boundary conditions, and the invoicing is based on the actual usage of resources.”
