Gerolsteiner x Wacken Festival

Metalheads know the fight against the hangover better than most. The Gerolsteiner Wacken campaign follows Gerolt, the brand's mineral water hero, on his journey from the Volcanic Eifel to the festival grounds. I storyboarded and animated the video series and adapted assets across festival video walls, Reels, and Stories, produced at Elbdudler.

Project Overview

Client: Gerolsteiner
Industry: FMCG
Timeline: 2022-2024
My Role: Graphic & Motion Designer

From 2022 to 2024, Gerolsteiner was the official mineral water partner of Wacken Open Air. The campaign centered on "Gerolt, Master of Minerals," a character journeying from the Volcanic Eifel region to Wacken, armed with mineral water to help metalheads fight their greatest enemy: the hangover. The story was told through a mini video series and accompanying social media assets.

Across the full campaign run, I worked as graphic and motion designer on the visual execution: storyboarding and animating the video series (concept from the agency), illustrating original assets, and adapting output across formats — from video walls on the festival grounds to Reels and Stories in 16:9, 9:16, and 4:5.
