Switzerland is well know for chocolate, their army knives and creating fabulous watches. Thanks to innofield, the Swiss will forever be known as the providers of the first Swiss based PaaS solution with their Flow App Engine (powered by Jelastic).
This week, innofield came out of beta and launched commercially with Jelastic 1.9.1.
"As Platform-as-a-Service is the next big thing for the cloud market, and we truly believe in it, we have been looking for a long time for a solution like Jelastic," said innofield cofounder Reto Giezendanner. "Jelastic fits perfectly into our concept. It's the simplest to use PaaS out there and because it’s so intuitive, our customers are able to set up their cloud environment in minutes. Based on our long-term brand policy, we name our new PaaS service 'Flow App Engine' powered by Jelastic."

Now Swiss developers can value all the benefits of Flow App Engine by utilizing a wide variety of Java and PHP software stacks such as Tomcat, GlassFish, TomEE, Jetty, Apache, NGINX app servers, as well as SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB) and NoSQL (CouchDB, MongoDB) databases and Memcached. Integration with the most popular build systems (Maven, Ant, Hudson/Jenkins) and IDEs (Eclipse, IntelliJ IDEA and NetBeans) is also provided.
Jelastic is famous for its modern approach to hosting, which enables developers to run any Java or PHP application as easy and fast as possible. Unlike other PaaS offerings, Jelastic does not require any code changes; moreover, installation and configuration are significantly simplified and automated for the most part. Our users can set up cloud environments in few seconds, choose and mix any of the major software stacks and enjoy the vertical auto-scaling feature that saves their time and money. Jelastic is a breakthrough in cloud hosting, and in 2012 Java community recognized it with its highest prize – Duke’s Choice Award.
Considering that Jelastic launched less than 18 months ago, the growth has been pretty awesome. For now Jelastic is commercially available in the USA , Russia, Germany, Japan, Finland, the UK and Ireland, Brazil, Sweden and from today in Switzerland with innofield.
