We are back to update you with the latest trends in software stacks popularity for May 2013. This time we decided to collect the numbers in a different way to get more accurate statistics. As you remember previously we counted the number of the environments, where each software stack was used. We've changed the reporting and from now the amount of users, who deployed their apps using specific stacks is calculated. Also we've excluded all the test accounts. So, let's see how the numbers have changed!

Databases

As you see on the chart below our leader is MySQL, followed by its "sister" MariaDB. Mongo also got a good piece of pie - 11 %. Postgres isn't far away from it with 9% of a share. Last month the outsider is CouchDB: only 1% of our customers prefer this database.

We can conclude that in general the developers' preferences according to databases vary in different countries, but the overall leader is the same - MySQL.

Java application servers

Looking at the Java application servers usage, it's easy to note that Tomcat 7 is unquestioned at number one. Tomcat 6 comes in second and GlassFish closes the top three. Jetty and TomEE have 4 % and 2% of a share respectively.

PHP application servers

If we compare the popularity of PaaS PHP servers supported in Jelastic, it's obvious and expected that Apache's piece of pie is much larger than Nginx's one.
