We are excited to launch version 5.2 of Virtuozzo Hybrid Infrastructure! This release has many new storage features, including the ability to connect external 3rd party storage, support for bucket policies in S3, as well as full RDMA support for Virtuozzo Cloud Storage.
We have also decreased maintenance window during OpenStack updates, and we have added new alerts for compute resources.

Pure Storage Integration
While we still recommend using our scalable, high-performance software-defined storage for your cloud, we understand that in some cases you want to use an external storage system.
Now you can: as a first step, we have added support for using Pure Storage arrays with Virtuozzo Hybrid Infrastructure.
This all-flash data storage delivers NVMe performance, and what Pure Storage calls hyper-consolidation and simplified management for capacity-oriented workloads. Follow the link to explore how to connect Pure Storage to your Virtuozzo Hybrid Infrastructure cloud.

Bucket Policy support for S3
Now bucket policies are supported in Virtuozzo Hybrid Infrastructure to grant permission to your S3 bucket and the objects in it.
These resource-based policies use JSON-based access policy language. They allow or deny requests based on the elements in the policy, including the requester, S3 actions, resources, and aspects or conditions of the request.

Full RDMA support for Virtuozzo Cloud Storage
Starting from this release, we fully support Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) for Virtuozzo Storage, to ensure the ability to access host memory directly without CPU intervention. It is implemented on top of Mellanox and Broadcom network cards supporting RoCE protocol.
RDMA greatly improves throughput and performance while lowering latency, because fewer CPU cycles are needed to process network packets. Using this new implementation, you can increase network performance up to 20-30%.
Non-disruptive OpenStack update
A cloud must have maximum uptime even during upgrades. In Virtuozzo Hybrid Infrastructure 5.2 we have minimized OpenStack maintenance window during system upgrades to less than 5 minutes.
Compute Monitoring Alerts
A set of new alerts for resource usage and compute services status have been added to ensure higher level of stability through proactive monitoring. A full list can be explored in Infrastructure Alerts documentation.

How to Upgrade
It’s easy to upgrade to Virtuozzo Hybrid Infrastructure 5.2:
Go to the SETTINGS > UPDATE section of your admin panel and initiate the upgrade process.
Note: An automated reboot of the nodes will be performed one at a time to complete the upgrade. During the reboot, the storage service and the admin panel may be unavailable on cluster configurations that don’t have redundancy of services or/and data.
